I was just wondering if there has been any, or if anyone would be interested in talking about moving our league over to Fantrax?
It would help erase any confusion about who may be available and limits the things that we have to be responsible for.
Just looking for a little discussion.

I've never been on Fantrax. I'll have to check it out. I'm fine with going where the majority want to go.

If anyone plays on Fantrax (Cigar, Carebears, I'm looking at you), feel free to share your thoughts on the platform. They have access to more minor leaguers there, but that's about the extent of my knowledge on it.

I generally like ESPN better than fantrax but with fantrax we could do away with using pro boards and have just one site. For that reason I would be in favor of fantrax.

Thats the biggest thing for me.. I tend to suck at keep my roster updated.
I use it for two different leagues right now, one with 14 teams 26 man rosters and 30 minor leaguers and another with 20 teams with 40 man rosters and 20 minor leaguers and it works fantastic.

My other leagues use fantrax for scoring but we still keep a proboards page for draft and roster management.
The ESPN app is second to none, in my opinion. It is nice to have your major leaguers and minor leaguers on one page on fantrax. The fantrax interface isn't as user friendly but I have come around to like it ok.
Would fantrax cost us money? In my 30 team league we all pat like 2.50 a year for the league, but that might be for other reasons. Maybe someone else knows more than me.

I think it would cost us a couple bucks for all that we would use it for.

We run a league on Fantrax (High and Tight Dynasty) and it costs nothing unless you get the premium version. Fantrax enables us to access all our players - major league and minors on the one page. We still use proboards for daily stuff and for a variety of logs and such, but Fantrax for and away out performs ESPN. We switched to it three years ago. It is much easier for individual owners to keep track of players, and, unlike ESPN, practically all of whom are available. We recommend Fantrax highly. We think sticking with proboards for daily stuff like sending PMs and even keeping logs of who owns which prospect, running our drafts, claiming and/or bidding on players and exchanging ideas and making announcements. Overall, Fantrax is way superior to ESPN. Owners can see their entire roster at one time and easily move players up and down betwen their major and minor league rosters without losing track of who you have.
El Guapo is in four dynasty leagues, and Complete Dynasty is the only one still run on ESPN; the other three switched to Fantrax for its ease of operation and greater dependability.

Here's a link to our Dynasty GM team on Fantrax - www.fantrax.com/fantasy/league/8gqdw17fj98p5nx6/team/rosterHope that shows how the layout works. As you can see, we are in a re-build there, too. heh heh
Carebears, Roto P and Southern Comfort are also in Hight and Tight Dynasty and can compare Fantrax and ESPN for ease of function etc. H&T is a Salary Cap league, and Fantrax has a premium option that would allow us to track salaries, but to keep our league free we track player salaries and team finances on proboards.

I am all for exploring the idea but if the fantrax phone app is not good I would be against the idea.

Using the browser on your phone is not that bad.

What are the benefits aside from having the minor league players on roster? If we still need to use proboards to track acquisitions, I am just curious what the advantage is.

I dont think we would need to still use proboards. Everything can be down on Fantrax including setting an innings limit for minor leaguers and anything else.

Not every player is listed on Fantrax, but a great many more appear there than on ESPN -- tons more.

Just off Cigar City MLB Roster, the following players can't be added, most of them are in AAA-Ball though some are in AA-Ball. Very hard to keep track of who we own:
Jacob Robson OF/DET Josh James SP/HOU Colin Poche RP/TB Austin Listi 1B/PHI Kevin Smith SS/TOR Jesus Sanchez OF/TB
Plus, a whole slew of prospects (most of the specs on our MiLB Roster are unavailable on ESPN (too many to list) but can be rostered on Fantrax. This becomes a major player tracking issues for us. Very hard to keep up with who we have and who we released. Only recently has Forrest Whitley made ESPN, etc.

Id be for switching if it means we can do our MiLB pick ups and drafts on the new platform, but if not I echo what welt said, what’s the point if we still have to use Proboards for that stuff.
As the commish of another dynasty league, I find the proboards to be useful in keeping an organized structure for voting on league changes, trades, and other administrative stuff. It would be really hard to do this if we switched away from proboards and the new platform just had the typical fantasy league message board.

Sorry for the delay. The ESPN platform is far superior to Fantrax. My suggestion would be to remain there. The only advantage for Fantrax is the tracking of minor leaguers.
