So I noticed Larry Sellers put this in the chat but wanted to get an official ruling because it could result in teams having 23 players on their minor's roster if they take advantage of it. I for instance could put Austin Meadows on my DL now and stash another minor leaguer even though Meadows has never played above AA and had no shot of making the Pirates' opening day roster. I just want a clear answer on this before everyone starts stashing extra minor league guys.
What do you all think?

I mean as long as it's only 3 DL spots in total between MLB and MiLB, I don't care how people use it.

Do you think MiLB should have to be called up first (effectively taking away one of their options)?

Nah. They'll have to drop someone eventually. I don't see a reason to make them use one of the call ups to use a 3-slot DL for both MLB and MiLB.

I don't like the idea of DL spots for the minor leagues. In my opinion you can hold him while on the DL or drop him for another to pick up. I know we have talked about having more minor league spots before. I don't know how I feel about that either. I think we are fine at 20 I guess.

This idea has absolutely no merit. MiLB players should not be listed on your MLB DL. With current roster construction as it is, fifty players per team is large enough. This suggestion actually only benefits those teams not attempting to contend for the next five years. Just my two cents.

I thought the whole purpose of our DL spots in the off-season was to act as a place holder until ESPN caught up to the DL players. Once the season starts, there shouldn't be any deviation between here and ESPN.

We already have several owners who have added minor leaguers to their MLB roster in order to create room for one more prospect. We have one owner who has almost a third of his team filled with prospects. Personally, I don't mind the idea of minor leaguers on the DL, but we could count it as a call-up if it kept everyone (well, almost everyone) happy.
