Maybe I am overreacting, but this new 10-day DL is a real pain in the ass. Can we get everyone's thoughts on opening up 1 or 2 more DL spots.
Thanks.

I'm okay with 5. I know we had discussed this previously in the offseason, but I don't remember it going anywhere.

Totally for 1 or two more. Personally I would vote 2.

I'm fine with it staying 3. It makes you really have to think about being competitive/dropping players to pick up others to stay competitive. I vote stay with 3.

I have Josh Donaldson and JD Martinez active even though they are on real life DL. I know some other great players are on real life DL and are active on other teams here too. I just think injuries are part of the game and how you handle it depends on winning or losing now and in the future. It's part of the fun for me. You risk losing the league or a good player sometimes. It's happened to all of us here and should continue to happen instead of being able to stockpile talent by using potential extra DL spots. My vote is DL stays at 3!

My team's been relatively healthy--but the same cannot be said about literally every other fantasy team of mine. Nobody's league was prepared for this.

We all agree this is part of the game. This idea is to counteract the increased amount of DL players across the league due to the change from 15 day DL to 10 day DL. So far through the first 25 games, DL stints are up 13% league-wide.

Ok we have 3 DL spots right now. Add 13% to that and we have 3.39 DL spots. Round that down and we are back to 3 DL spots. Can you tell I want to keep 3 DL spots?

Take a look at Seager's team. He can maybe drop two of those DL players but he has no chance to compete. I am worried about it creating an imbalance in the leagues scoring.

even though more guys are going on the DL (13% more I guess), they are staying on the DL less time than they would have previously.
I think this might be a bit of an overreaction to a current issue and we should wait at least another month to see how things shake out. As playoff races start to take shape, I don't think teams will be putting guys on the DL for a stubbed toe. It should eventually come back to an eqlibrium and then we can vote.

It really doesn't matter to me. Injuries are part of the game. My team is one of those anomalies of fantasy baseball. Also, a few of my players are morons....

Fair point Abe. Its not something we have to vote on now.

I wasn't trying to come me off as too blunt. I just don't think the sample size is big enough to make a decision one way or the other yet.

Are they staying on the DL for less time though? Just because it's a 10-Day DL does not mean they all come off after the days are up. This change just affords them the luxury of activating them after 10 days.
I am in favour of voting on this issue much further down the road, but if this continues, I think we really have to think about increasing the number of DL spots. A 13% rise is a lot. Several teams have been hit extraordinarily hard by injuries this year, and like Welt said, the scoring gets skewed when so many roster spots are being taken up by players on the DL. And let's be real here, in a Dynasty League, no one is going to drop a good player for some ding-dong on the waiver wire.
I think the argument of extra DL spots = stockpiling talent on the DL, is a small price to pay for what we all ultimately want, and that is for everyone to feel as if they have a chance to compete. I don't want teams to feel as if they are out of it in May just because they've had shitty luck. Yes, injuries are a part of any fantasy league, but they shouldn't be a huge part.
I apologize for not being clearer in my original post. I didn't mean to imply we'd be adding DL spots this year. We will pick this discussion up at a later date.

I say we give it until the ASG before any voting is done.

My apologies, I misinterpreted your original post. I'm all for voting and implementing whatever the result of the vote is. I personally didn't know (and still don't) which way to vote because of the sample size. Voting after the all-star break or the season sounds like a great plan. I'm curious to see how MLB teams adjust as the season goes on.
